Mashable #4 2/23

How can a society that exists on instant mashed potatoes, packaged cake mixes, frozen dinners, and instant cameras teach patience to its young?  ~Paul Sweeney
This sounds about like me. Impatient. Some would say social media is "instant gratification". So far it has been the exact opposite for me. Between links, feeds, posts, bookmarks, tweets, favorites, readers, and followers I feel a bit like a mashed potato. First whole with a classic peel happily sitting amongst the other potatoes avoiding the fryer of technology.  Then quickly stripped of my gritty skin of comfort and chopped to cubes of twitter, deliscious, and blogs. The ineveitable is happening. It wont be too long unitl im completley mashed and buttered sitting steamy, creamy, and RELATABLE. I mean afterall, everyone loves thier taters mashed.
Frusterating; a little.
Educational; DEFINATLEY.
Here we go mashable.
Mashable is a website with the intent of connecting all socail media sites together. It seves as a single website to visit where you can learn all the latest and greatest about social media.
A few articles I found interesting and relevant from Mashable are:
Just frequenting the Mashable website proved to be helpful. I know more now about Tweets, Facetime, and Advertisements on facebook than I did 15 minutes ago. CHECK!

Infograph 2/28

2. Post an infograph that demonstrates the importance, significance, and or trends of social media communication for organizations and professionals.
A little somethin somethin to note: As soon as I started looking for an infograph I was directed to Mashable!! This probably seems silly to all of you regae Mashable users but this is BIG NEWS for me. It proves course relevancy and well quite frankly I am pumped that I am starting to see the different tools mesh together.

Mashable!
Ok I get that it is huge but this is so neat! I had no idea what an infograph was until recently and this specific one does a good job at depicting how diffferent countries place value in different social media sites. Brazil uses blogger more than any other country which is relaly interesting. Not to say that everyone doesnt have something important to blog about but I couldnt help but ask myself "Self, What do brazilains have to blog about?"
Immediatley my self said "Dont be an ignoramous. Every single person has something worth blogging about" {insert personal mental social media breakthrough here). Anyway, this led me to do the expected:
Google Brazilian blogger blogs....
pathetic? or curious?

Firsties! Orco 2-23

1. Who are you and why are you taking a course in professional social media and organizational communication? List three goals you have for yourself in the course this smemester and you you are planning/ accomplishing these goals?

Twitter
Facebook

I am an MTSU student swimming in the big ole sea of communication.
I sort of fell into this course while registering for anything available for my major.
( Not the most ideal way to choose a course but somehow it is working for me. )
I can't say I love it thus far
but I can't say I hate it either.
My peers and down to earth instructor make it worth my time.

Computers and technology= Not my thing.
Growth, Human Beings, and Communication= So completley my thing.
So here I am in the middle ground. I love people more than I know anything. I would give anything to communicate with them. As bizarre as it seems to me, Social media is where the communication is happening. My game plan is to handle this how I handle everything:

Hi Social Media, I'm Sadi. You Matter. I want to know you!

Goals: 1. Make connections
          2. Learn the tricks and trade of sharing information online
        3. Figure out how to be involves with social media sites but not obsessed.

How to: Try Try Try again.
Avoid Frusteration
