# 31 Social Media Concept of Growth

1.     Your choice:  write a brief essay about any social media concept OR explain how social media is fundamentally rhetorical.  (Hint: see lecture “Are you listening”?)

Growth has been a reoccurring concept in all of my work so the chance to incorporate it into Social Media is not a foreign idea for me.

Growth is defined as : an increase in quantity and quality over time.

Social Media Growth is crucial to the success of ANY organization. Especially an organization looking to communicate.

#29 Water for People

1.     List and explain 3 ways that social media communication tools/platforms/apps can be used by an organization to develop their professional brand identity, promote events, and engage with their audiences/communities.  Provide one well known and successful organization that is effectively using multiple social media communication tools.  Explain how/why their communication strategy  is effective.

 A picture of celebration

Water for People is a nonprofit organization driven to Empower Everyone

If this is not exactly what I stand for I don't know what is. Water for people utilizes FacebookTwitter, Linkedin, TapWaterForPeople, and also connects every one of their sponsors to their home page.

Social Media communication app can be helpful in establishing a brands identity:
-because it encourages the organization to have a physical image (profile pictures, displays, ect)
- It also allows the, to receive instant feedback from those people interested.
-And is helpful in putting out ay information in a short time to millions of followers.

Water for People keeps all kinds of people linked together by promoting their other social media sites on thier social media sites. If you follow the organization on Twitter you are directly encouraged to follow them on Facebook and then straight to the webpage.

This is effective because it keeps everyone who wants to be in the loop, in the loop.

Extending my loop chain,

#28 Pinterest

1.     Briefly explain “Pinterest” and how entrepreneurs/businesses/non-profit organizations in your area of communication are using this new tool.  Get an account and create at least one board that would be relevant to your future profession  (e.g. I created a “great public speeches” board) and find 3 professionals in your field to follow.

Pinterest is a pinboard-style social photo sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies and more. Users can browse other pinboards for inspiration, 're-pin' images to their own collections and/or 'like' photos. Pinterest's mission is to “connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting"[3] via a global platform of inspiration and idea sharing. Pinterest allows its users to share 'pins' on both Twitter and Facebook, which allows users to share and interact with a broad community.[citation needed] Founded by Ben Silbermann, of West Des Moines, Iowa,[4] the site is currently managed by Cold Brew Labs and funded by a small group of entrepreneurs and inventors. It is one of the “fastest growing social services in the world.”[5]

My explanation:
Pinterest is a social site dedicated to photo sharing. It is all based on pinboards where people post photos they find interesting. Pinterests goal is to connect everyone through the things they find interesting.

#27 Professionals on the tube of you

1.     Explain how professional organizations are using YouTube.  Provide two examples from your area of study.

Care is a my dream occupation:
CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. We place special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of disease, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.

Care uses Youtube to post regular videos about the causes they are fighting for.
The videos are more than sappy photo montages. The videos state the goal why its relevant
how they plan to change it
and how YOU can help resolve the global problem.

#24 Klout or Da Gout??

1.     Find out your Klout score and what type of influencer you are.  (Hint:  see bookmarks).  Is this what you want to be?  How can you move in the direction of the type of influencer you hope to be?

Naturally I wanted something catchy.. Da gout it is...

Just a little warm up before the business.

Gout defined by urban dictionary is : Urban Dictionary is truth
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the record the above has literally nothing to do with the Klout.

Wiki says: Koutiki

According to Klout I'm sitting at a 22.5...
I need some work.
However! This is no problem. Ive already devised a cunning way to improve my score and my professional social media image!
1. Categorize my Tweeple
2. Post more of what I am interested in on my Facebook as well as finding others who live the dream I want to live.
3. Only post/tweet things people can gain something from
4. Update and develop my social media platforms!
5. Keep researching ways to improve my Social media image as a professional.

And the journey continues....

Forever developing,

Sadi Swaney
