#17 LISTEN

What does it mean to "listen" as a social media professional? Why is this so important and how can we improve our SMC listening skills? (Helpful hint: check out the academic journal article about listening provided in my bookmarks).

According to the academic journal article Lurking is one large component of listening in social media. Lurking is this idea that you watch and read and observe. Listening as a social media participator means that you are aware of what people are talking/tweeting/messaging about and using what you see hear and learn to establish a basis of what you want to present to other socia media users.

It is crucial that you learn what it means to listen.
 The things that you "hear" directly relate to what you will say yourself.
    We can improve our social media listening skills by "lurking" and researching.
        We can also be better listeners by honing in on the things that matter to us so we convey those thoughts to others through our own blogs/posts/tweets/status.
